Two months after heading off to college, student Ellie Haworth recently returned to her family’s home for a visit. That time away has been understandably tough, since it meant she’s been without the company of her beloved dog, Percy.
“It was the longest we had spent apart,” Haworth told The Dodo. “I looked forward to seeing him more than words can describe.”
Haworth clearly wasn’t the only one whose heart had been yearning.
Upon reuniting with Haworth, Percy was simply ecstatic. And though he couldn’t put his feelings into words per se, he found a beautiful way of showing what was in his heart.
While out on their traditional morning stroll together, Haworth noticed Percy doing something quite unusual. Rather than explore the sights and smells on their path like he normally does, the dog seemed insistent on fixing his gaze to just one thing as they walked — his best friend’s face.
Percy, it seems, could simply not believe his eyes that Haworth was truly on the other end of the leash.
So I’ve come back home from uni and today I took my dog on our first walk together since being back and he won’t stop looking up at me like this
“He was looking at me the whole time,” Haworth said. “I’ve never seen him do that before.”
Haworth, of course, will sadly have to say goodbye to her dog once again when she goes back to school. But now there’s no doubt that the bonds of love between them aren’t weakened by the time spent apart — and they’re both looking forward to the day they’re reunited for good.
Dads eventually become awesome grandpas. Meghan Specksgoor’s father proved to be no exception. He showed off his skills during the holiday season. While his daughter stayed in New York, he stayed behind with her pup Chance.
Meghan is only a dog mom right now, but she can rest assured when she has human babies grampa will be ready! But for now, she had an adorable fur baby that is in love with his grandpa for the fun adventures they had.
Shorty into her trip, she received these text messages that went viral.
Grandpa grabbed a bite to eat with this sweet pooch. They must be really hungry! At least gramps asked what little Chance is allowed to have.
Grandpa doesn’t just shower his grandpup with treats but also teaches him the value of earning a reward! If he’s a good boy getting his nails done, he gets ice cream! Darn, we want ice cream too Chance. He also loves hanging out with grandpa and wants to hang out more with him!
He ended up loving his grandpa. And his ice cream treat!
In Garden City, Michigan, an unnamed inventor and dog lover put his ingenuity to work to build an automatic dog petting machine for his canine friend. The video was filmed on 2/06/2019, which explains everything. It’s awful cold in Grand City this time of the year and there isn’t much to do to keep busy when you’re stuck inside!
Using wooden cogs and a lot of wooden sprockets, the machine turns 2 wooden arms with hands attached into doggy paradise. The longer arm swings back and forth in a stroking manner, the other pats the dog in an up and down motion on the back, just above the tail.
There are a few drawbacks. The German Shepherd thoroughly enjoys the machine, but it’s small companion … well, the small companion isn’t tall enough for this ride.
When asked about the machine, the inventor had this to say:
“Humans have massage chairs so why shouldn’t our pets have petting machines. I gave it a Rube Goldberg style flare to make it interesting to watch.”
Hard to argue with that logic. This machine is spectacular!
