Kilo, a brave 12-year-old pit bull, took a bullet for his owner, Justin Becker, as he struggled with a thief posing as a deliveryman in Staten Island, New York.
“I get the guy in between the door, and Kilo was trying to bite him to through the door,” said Becker.
He was shot in the head, over his right eye, but fortunately, the bullet didn’t penetrate his skull and exited through his neck. That saved him from certain and instant death!
Becker rushed his dog to an animal hospital, refusing to let him die, even if the chances for survival were extremely low.
“This is like, one in a million,” said Dr. Greg Panarello, whose veterinary clinic operated on Kilo. “He’s very lucky.”
The staff at the hospital was so impressed about Kilo’s courage, that they decorated his bandage with an ‘S’ for ‘superhero.’
He had to wear a cone around his neck to restrict his movement and a drain for his wounds, but other than that, he is now back home and recovered really well.
“He’s a hero. He saved my life. He went to protect me and he did his job,” said Becker.
