Being a pit bull owner is full of all the joys of dog ownership, along with some painful circumstances that only other pitty owners could possibly understand. Here are ten trials and tribulations of owning a pitty.
#1 – Having to choose where you live based on whether or not your dog is welcome
#2 –Getting dirty looks when you walk your dog down the street because people assume he’s aggressive
#3 – There is nothing like a bully cuddle
#4 –Being denied entry at a dog friendly place due to your dog’s breed – even if he is a service dog
#5 – You enter the dog park and all the other dog owners grab their dog and leave
#6 – His smile can brighten even the darkest day
#7 – The feeling when someone says “your dog should be put down, it’s dangerous”
#8 – You’ve mastered the art of convincing others your dog is a lab and shepherd mix – you can even point out which part of their body belongs to which breed
#9 – The feeling when you tell your friends you’re pregnant and they ask you when you are getting rid of your dog
#10 – The amazing feeling when someone meets your dog and says “I had no idea pit bulls where so sweet.”
As for one boy, having a dog was what he wanted the most, but sadly, he couldn’t take care of the little puppy he found. The boy, although very young, was well behaved and didn’t want to leave the dog on the streets, so he decided to find him a home.
He thought that the best thing to do was to put it in a box and leave it somewhere where he knew they will take good care of it. It was all heartbreaking because the boy already fell in love and grew fond with the puppy, and letting go wasn’t easy at all, but it was the only thing he could do.
He placed the box with the puppy in front of a school’s front door, knocked on the door, and quickly ran away. The janitor who was cleaning the halls heard the loud knock and once he opened the door he could see a young boy running and a box next to his feet.
But, there was something with the puppy that touched the heart of the janitor. A heartbreaking note the boy left, explaining why he had to do what he did.
This is what the note said:
“Sorry it didn’t have a home and it was cold so we were going to give it to you. Please do let it go find a nice home.”
Luckily, the janitor knew the right person who could help the puppy. It was a dog-loving teacher who didn’t hesitate to foster the little baby. She named him Snowflake and made sure he got everything he needed.
The teacher later took Snowflake to the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue. The dog got vaccinated and the staff’s goal was to find him a forever home before Christmas, so that he could spend the most beautiful day of the year surrounded with loving people, in a warm home.
Luckily, everything turned out as planned, and Snowflake was soon adopted. He now gets to spend his days with his doggie sister and human parents who love him to the moon and back.

Reddit user Rawtashk posted the photo of their oldest dog – 11-year-old Sef – saying goodbye to his family before being put to sleep later that day.
He wrote, “Our old boy is getting put down today. Somehow our other 2 seem to know, and they’ve been saying goodbye all morning.”
The family arranged for the veterinarian to come to their home so the family could be with Sef when he crossed Rainbow Bridge. “You know you have a good boy when your vet doesn’t normally do at-home euthanasia, but she volunteers to come out and do it for Sef,” said Rawtashk in his post.
“And that’s what happened this morning. Somehow Rhonin and Jaina both knew, because they kept coming over and giving Sef kisses this morning while we waited for the vet.”
“Sef was able to go peacefully at home, while my wife and I stroked his fur and told him how much we loved him and how much we were going to miss him,” he revealed.
“I love you, Sef. You were the best boy I could have ever asked for. I would have carried you forever, had I been able to, but it wasn’t fair for you.”
Following up on his original post, the family wrote: “Thanks for the kind words everyone. We said our goodbyes and he’s getting cremated so we can put his ashes on the mantle next to our first dog. He was the best boy I could have ever asked for. Love you buddy. I hope you had a wonderful time.”
Sef’s owner later told LADbible that since Sef was put to sleep his other two dogs have been a bit sad.
“We have two dogs still,” he said. “A five-year old male named Rhonin and a two-year old female named Jaina. Rhonin has a very soft personality, and I can tell he still thinks something is wrong, although that might just be because he’s picking up on my general demeanor.”
“Jaina is more outgoing and energetic, so she doesn’t seem too phased by it….but last night she did come over to the couch and sniff around at the blanket on the couch that has been Sef’s ‘spot’ for the last five months or so.”
Jaina also knows she’s not allowed on the couch but she jumped up on it and “curled up where Sef would normally be” the dog owner revealed.
Sef’s owners are hoping that people who are moved by Sef’s goodbye support dog rescue and will donate to the American Belgian Malinois Rescue in his honor.
