Man gives everything up to travel across 48 states and rescue as many dogs as possible

It’s clear this man loves dogs. In order to raise awareness about dog adoption, he left his job and all possessions behind to travel across the country to let people know that shelter animals make great pets.

Since Lee Asher was young, he spent lots of time at the local shelter. As he grew older, he started to rescue animals from there and find them forever homes. So it should come as no surprise that when Asher became an adult, he continued his activism by continuously fostering animals and adopting his own “crew.”

“I always knew that when I was older I would have a house filled with rescues, so seeing where I am now isn’t much of a surprise to me or anyone who knew me growing up,” Asher told The Dodo.

Now, Asher has a new and bigger mission—to rescue all animals from shelters.

Asher understands that there is a stigma against shelters, so it’s important to raise awareness that the animals there make great pets. It’s a daunting task, but he is up for the challenge.

“The inspiration just comes from loving dogs and knowing that you are not only saving a life, but when rescuing a dog you are allowing the space for other rescues to possibly get adopted too. It’s a win-win and a beautiful feeling,” said Asher.

After buying an RV and quitting his job, Asher and his best friend have taken off on an adventure to save dogs, and along with them are the six adopted pooches Asher rescued.

His goal is to cover 48 states, visiting the shelters and rescuing as many animals as he can across the United States.

“We wanna show people that the dogs in the shelters are the most beautiful, loving, amazing dogs you can imagine,” Asher says in the video.

As of three months ago, the two mates and their pets have been to 31 states and rescued over 90 dogs, a truly incredible feat. But the duo is far from being done.

“I’m not even close to being finished,” Asher said. “The end, end goal is to clear the shelters.”

Vets Are In Disbelief Over Neglected Dog’s Appearance Stepping In To Leave Him Unrecognizable

Two heavily matted dogs whose skin and fur had seen better days were given second chances when they got makeovers. At first, they looked like they hadn’t been taken care of in years, but after the transformation, they were almost unrecognizable!

Two neglected Shih Tzu dogs were brought to the vet, and the attendants were shocked as soon as they walked through the door. They couldn’t believe what they were seeing. The two Shih Tzus didn’t even look like small toy dogs. They looked like they had been put through the ringer.

One dog was compared to “the Lion King,” his fur so matted and huge around his tiny frame. The vets knew they had to do something fast to save the dogs from their condition. Matted fur isn’t something to be taken lightly, especially for small dog breeds like the Shih Tzu.

Matted fur can cause discomfort and can even lead to health risks in dogs. Because it traps moisture and dirt, matted fur can lead to bacterial infection. It can cause skin irritation and cause rashes. Clumps of fur near the rectum can trap the dog’s waste and cause sickness. Sometimes, matting can be so bad that a dog needs surgery to pull through.

That’s why it’s important to give your dog a clean haircut every now and then if they have long hair. For these two dogs, things weren’t hopeless. The one who liked like a lion had two attendants working on him. They shaved off his fur, which looked heavy as soon as they got everything off. The matted fur looked like cotton from sheep! It even appeared thick enough to be turned into a coat…or a doormat.

Next, “Lion King” was given a bath and was later towel-dried. The other Shih Tzu also had a bad case of matting. His fur was so matted that they were falling away in clumps, leaving his skin irritated and pink. He looked like he had scabs! Both dogs had been restless and continuously panting before they were shaved and bathed.

As soon as their matted fur was shaved off and they were cleaned, the dogs were given a new lease on life. In addition, they no longer panted like they were in the Sahara Desert. They were able to enjoy normal dog activities again without the itchy and heavy feeling of matted fur.

You will be astonished at how these neglected Shih Tzus looked after their unbelievable makeovers.
