They Admit To Driving 900 Miles With Dogs In The Backseat, But Then Police Saw What Was In The Trunk

People love their pets. Nowadays there are so many activities for pet owners, you have no excuse to not take your pet out to socialize. Not to mention the many pet-friendly hotels and of course the elaborate line of pet toys and furniture. Society has placed just as much importance on having pets as having children and this is especially true in a recent arrest.

One couple has recently admitted that their dogs were more important than their children. While 63-year-old Michael J. Fee and 31-year-old Amber Freudenstein took a road trip from Arizona and Wyoming, they packed their car up, making sure that their two German Shepherds were comfortable in the back seat of the car. The only problem was that their two children were confined to the trunk for the 900-mile trip.

The couple pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment at Natrona County Circuit Court and they were each sentenced to 30 days in jail.

According to an investigator, Freudenstein said that the children were restricted to the trunk while the dogs were put in the back seat. By the time they reached Utah, one of the children had moved from the trunk to the front passenger floorboards while the other remained in the trunk. Court documents shared that Freudenstein was planning to return to Arizona with three different children.

While in court Fee said that there was not enough room so the children, ages six and ten, had to go in the trunk.

“I tried making things as safe as I could for them and I wasn’t trying anything malicious,” he said.

Some commenters joked about the dogs being better behaved and deserving the back seat over the children, however; one commenter stood up to the poor humor…

“The fact that people think it’s funny or joking about the dogs being better behaved is pure ignorance to me. 900 miles is easily well over 10 hours of driving time. This is 100% child abuse. Not just endangerment.”

“Idiots, they shouldn’t be allowed to have kids.”

Several agreed that some people just shouldn’t be allowed to have children.

Another commenter brought up an interesting point…

“Imagine what they would have done to them if they had ridden the dogs that far in the trunk.”

The punishment for putting children in such danger seems to be quite minimal and surely animal activists would’ve been riled up if it was the dogs who were found in the trunk instead of the children. This brings us back to the point that dogs have become like people’s children in our society and they are often prioritized.

Either way, the couple doesn’t seem like they are fit to have any type of responsibility…

“I personally don’t care for the caption of the article because be it children or animals neither should be in a trunk. This couple shouldn’t have children or animals.”

“I can’t believe someone would do this to children. What the hell has happened to our society? The judge sentenced them 30 days each. A misdemeanor is 6 months.”
