Proud father chases down stranger after she hands him an envelope and walks away

Is there anything that glows brighter than a proud parent?

And there’s no time to be prouder of your child than when they graduate – whether it’s high school, college, or beyond, it’s a moment of huge achievement (and relief!) for most parents.

A Florida dad was so thrilled to see his son graduate that he couldn’t stop himself from sharing the news with strangers.

The day of the ceremony, Rob Edwards was happy to share his son Cole’s accomplishments with anyone who would listen – even people in line with him at the bank.

Edwards stopped by his local bank right before the event. He happened to be walking into the building at the same time as a woman, so he held the door open for her.

Once the two were inside the woman waited for Rob to enter the line ahead of her, but he insisted that she go first.

“I said, ‘By all means go in front of me,’” he told FaithTap. “‘Today my son graduates. I’m slowing down and want to savor every minute.’”

So the woman took her place in line in front of him and the two began chatting as they waited for the next teller to open up.

Eventually, their small talk shifted to the difficulties of raising teenagers.

When a teller became available, the woman walked up to the counter. But when it was Rob’s turn to be helped, he looked down to where his wallet had been sitting before he approached and discovered something strange: an envelope.

He was perplexed when he saw it, but just then the stranger walked past him on her way out and said “Congratulations! I’m so happy for you.”

It wasn’t until Edwards completed his transaction that he opened the mysterious envelope, which held a crisp $50 bill.

He ran outside to find the woman, who was sitting in her car. He explained that he couldn’t take the money from her and tried to give it back, but she refused.

“When you talk about your boy, YOU GLOW. You’re a blessing to him, I want to bless him, too!” she told him.

Edwards was touched by the gesture and decided to spread the message of the stranger with a kind heart to as many people as possible, so he posted the story on Facebook along with a photo they took that afternoon.

“I don’t know her name; I’ve never seen her before. But I will never forget her love,” the dad declared. “I asked to take a picture with her. And hugged her neck. We need more of this in the world today. Not the money. But kindness. I hugged a complete stranger today. My son who I love with all my heart was shown love. Many of you who know me know what I believe in. Sounds kinda familiar don’t it. It warms the father’s heart to love the son. I am blessed.”

Cole is certainly fortunate to have a father who is so proud of his success and who is grateful for the kindness he is shown.
